Departing Wycombe early Friday morning, we got onto London for our clearance on the ground, and after a few minutes wait were rewarded with an initial clearance for our climb to FL100 to Orleans. Smooth conditions persisted for the entire leg, out from Goodwood on a very direct route to L’Aigle and then across to Orleans. The morning had begun to warm up and we had a few bumps starting as we descended towards the IAF for the RWY05 RNP at Saint Denis. The Douanes were waiting so we managed a quick turnaround, loaded some fuel, and departed to the south towards Avignon. Crossing Avord and Clermont-Ferrand we saw wildfires rising into towering cloud, and the air warmed as ATC skirted us around to the east of the military restricted area and handed use off onto Orange Approach. Orange kindly cleared us through their airspace, and we descended into the hot south France air for a bumpy touchdown at Avignon with a total flight-time of just over 4 hours. The following day we departed via Gap Tallard, in the foothills of the western Alps, and proceeded into the mountains, over Month Duphin, and then a dogleg route through 13,500 foot peaks at FL120 until we descended across Alpe D’heuz and into the spectacular valley surrounding Chambery with a lunch stop in this beautiful old town. The final legs took us across eastern France to Troyes, then up to Le Touquet for a border clearance and fuel moments before the airport closed. London routed us westward along the south coast at FL100 before descending us neatly across Farnborough and popping us out of controlled airspace with a few miles to run.
