Who we are
A passionate group of Mooney enthusiasts
The Group has owned and operated our Mooney 201 (M20J) G-BJHB since almost new in 1983, and we've always been based at Wycombe Air Park. As one of the longest established and best run groups in the UK, we operate as a Limited Company, governed by Articles of Association, and managed by a Committee elected by the group every year. We hold regular Committee meetings and a formal AGM. And of course there is an optional social side, with members often travelling together across Europe.
Always Hangered
Owned since 1983, based and hangered at Wycombe Air Park and maintained by London Denham Aviation. The serial number is 24-1190 and the initial US registration was N1145G. It has always been hangared, which protects the aircraft from the elements and ensures it remains secure.

Aircraft Details
Hotel Bravo is a four place, single engine Mooney M20J with retractable undercarriage, 200BHP engine, variable pitch prop and cowl flaps. Possibly the world’s most efficient high-performance single, able to cruise at over 160 kts on around 12 US gallons per hour in ideal conditions. It equally flies without vices at 85kts. A 750 - 1000 nm range and low fuel-consumption make it a great tourer. You will fly 60% further at half the cost of a typical trainer. A Piper/Cessna pilot can convert typically in 1 to 3 hours flying.

Own the Dream
Dreaming of the kind of adventures you see in the video? This is how we fly!
Tired of the old training school hacks that are available for rental, with half the equipment placarded inoperative, obsolete avionics, and so slow it's inconceivable to travel anywhere interesting?
Disappointed when they’re not available for rental?
Imagine your own high-performance aircraft, capable of quickly transporting you to exotic, interesting places.
Being able to take the plane away with family or friends when you want, without minimum use restrictions.
If you’re a reasonably active pilot, hold a minimum of a PPL with at least 100 hours of total time, and are sociable, co-operative, and willing to pull your weight in the group when needed, we would love to hear from you.

Flight Hours Charges
Pay only for the time actually spent in the air. To encourage proper engine warm-up, preparation, and allow loading of flight-plans and setup of the extensive avionics owners pay only from the moment the wheels leave the ground until landing. This increases safety, protects the aircraft, and reduces flying cost.

Fully Funded
We operate on the basis of a fully funded model. The monthly subscription and hourly rate are carefully calculated to ensure that the full future-value of major maintenance items such as Engine and Propeller are accrued for in a high-interest saving account. Cash-calls are reserved to fund major upgrades that are reflected then in the value of the Aircraft and its share price.

Fly Further, Faster, for Less
Hotel Bravo will take you 60% further for half the total cost of lesser aircraft. See the calculations below to understand how owning a Mooney will save you money, allowing you to go further, faster, for less cost.
You want to fly to La Rochelle for a long weekend and some sunshine. It's 350 nautical miles.
In a conventional rental it's too far for a single leg, so you decide to stop and stretch the legs at Le Havre, and clear Customs. You spend 10 minutes taxying, waiting for clearance, doing power checks etc. at arrival and departure. It becomes a 4 hour flight on block.
In a conventional training aircraft, you're paying from the moment you start moving (or even starting the engine in some cases).
However, in Hotel Bravo, you could do the same trip in two much faster legs, or go direct in a little over 2 hours, clear customs in La Rochelle and be enjoying a cocktail by the port while the rental aircraft is still climbing out of Le Havre.

Some of our Trips
An incredible Touring Machine
The aircraft has travelled extensively, from the Fjords of Norway to the far-east of Europe, and recently toured France, Spain and Portugal. She is just back from a week long tour of France, Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily. This is a serious go-places machine that’s just as happy popping to Le Touquet for lunch in under an hour as it is heading for a long weekend in La Rochelle or a week on the French Riviera.
Help Center
Frequently asked questions
How do I become a Mooney Owner?
Any prospective owners meet with at least 2 of the Committee members, to discuss their flying experience, background, and assess whether they will be a suitable candidate. We ask for the share price to be paid into Escrow with the company prior to commencement, then a check-out process is designed based upon your experience. Upon successful completion and sign-off by an instructor, the share transaction is completed and the share transferred from the prior owner to the new owner.
What Hours and Qualifications do I need?
There are no hard and fast rules, but typically we would like to see at least 100 hours of flight time and experience in higher performance aircraft, particularly with constant speed prop and retractable undercarriage. Given the touring nature there is a preference for either having or willingness to work towards an IR or IR(R). Despite its performance, the aircraft has docile handling and most pilots with experience on typical Piper/Cessna aircraft are able to make a transition with only a few hours training, which our instructors can undertake.
Is there Good Availability of the aircraft?
Yes. We have a process of advance booking over the peak summer season to ensure everyone is able to plan and make trips, and we hold back days in between for release closer to the time. The aircraft averages about 150 hours of use per year which is not a great deal compared to aircraft in training use.
Are there Minimum Use restrictions?
No, we simply ask for common sense. Most of the usage of the aircraft is for trips, whether day trips or longer trips of several days or a week or more. The bookings are all managed by the Booking Officer who’s responsibility is to optimise the use of the aircraft and ensure that the bookings are fair for all owners.
How do I Book to use the aircraft?
The group use Goboko, a common online aircraft booking platform, which has a web browser or mobile phone app interface. The Booking Officer approves all bookings but it is largely a self-administered system and we ask everyone to show common sense and courtesy when booking, and engage with other owners with bookings either side to ensure things run smoothly.
What am I actually buying?
Each owner becomes a shareholder in Zitair Flying Club Ltd., a UK limited company which owns the aircraft. The company holds all the accrued funds so you own an equal share of the aircraft and all accrued cash, as well as ancillaries such as the life jackets, raft, etc once you purchase a share in the group.
How is the organisation governed? What are the rules?
There is a comprehensive documented set of bylaws that all shareholders agree to abide by, as set out in the Articles of Association of the company. The Committee manages the business day to day, but ultimately the company is owned by the shareholders and we try to ensure everyone is included in decisions where they are material. The Committee are volunteers doing the work in their spare time, so all we expect is that everyone pitches in and helps when and where they can.
What if I'm concerned about the step up in Performance?
Don’t be! Many of our owners have stepped from typical training aircraft into the Mooney and we are experienced at helping people make the transition. Members often fly or travel together to share the experience, and we are happy to arrange for an experienced member to ride along as a safety pilot with newer group members.
